Tell our readers all about yourself?

I’m a professional creative and I blog about motherhood, natural hair and beauty in my spare time. I’m married with a son and two dogs. I love to chatting to people, eating good food and traveling. If I can enjoy all of those at the same time, I’ll be in heaven.

What is the main mission of your blog and what content can they expect to find there?

My main mission is to inspire women by sharing my story. There are two things I believe aren’t talked about enough in many women’s lives and that’s natural hair and an honest take on motherhood so that’s what you’ll find on my blog. I believe in being open and sharing my truth with others so they don’t feel as alone as I have in those areas of my life.

What is your greatest passion?

Creating. From drawing to arts and crafts to digital design. I absolutely love making something from nothing. Even more so when I do it by hand – I’m a big fan of old school creativity more than anything else.

What or who inspires you to live your best life?

Definitely my son and husband. They are a huge inspiration and motivation for everything I’m working really hard for. I want to be the best version of me for them.

Where can we find you in your spare time?

At home! I’m such a homebody but I unfortunately don’t spend as much time at home as I’d like to as I work full time and the Joburg commute is time consuming. So if and when I can, I love being at home.

How do you get balance in your life?

I’m not sure if this is really possible for moms! I honestly never feel like it’s balanced as one thing is always going to be less than. But to keep my sanity, I have very clear boundaries with people and myself. I leave work at the office, when I’m home I don’t take work calls or emails. I’m in mommy mode as soon as I walk through that door. And once he’s sleeping, I’m in wife mode. And vice versa. Of course, I think about my son throughout my work day and check in on him but I know he’s in good hands so I’m not worried. I have dedicated family day on Sundays so my husband, son and I can have quality, attentive time together. It’s so important for me because if my home isn’t good, everything else will suffer.

What “rules” do you live by?

As I mentioned above, I think setting boundaries is so important. It guides people on how they treat you. I believe in God so when it comes time to making difficult decisions, I think of Him and how I would explain my reasons to Him.

What three things could you not live without?

Ice cream, internet and sex…not necessarily in that order!

TOP 3 recommendations for the mommies reading this post?

  1. Ask for help when you need it and accept it when it’s offered.
  2. Don’t put yourself at the bottom of the list. Your family needs you so you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of them. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
  3. Be present. We’re all so busy just trying to get through the day so those few moments you have with your child, really give them your all.
